Explosion ! - Museum of Naval Firepower

The powder magazine at Priddy's Hard dates back to 1773, and is a listed ancient monument; it was part of the naval ordnance depot, now converted to a museum for Gosport Borough Council.

Event Communications were responsible for the museum design, Esther Dugdale the senior designer in charge of the £3.5M project.

The museum includes a twenty minute walk-through presentation with a lighting and sound program which evokes the work and workers of Priddy's Hard over the years.

As well as a range of high-tech light fittings and control systems, it was possible to salvage some fittings from the ordnance depot and refurbish them for use in the museum.

I made a number of custom gobos for use in the museum, installed in metal halide adapted theatrical profile spots (see Torpedoes below).
