performance lighting

Lighting for performance is rather an esoteric field: utilising specialist luminaires, massive dimming systems, colours, effects, and computerised control systems.

I tend to work in opera and dance, but the distinctions blur: concert lighting, lyric theatre, corporate events, site-specific performance, parties; all fall within this category and cross-fertilise.

The lighting designer for performance creates atmosphere, focus, and dynamic, essential elements of any performance or event.
